Personal Finance and Entrepreneurship Programs for Teens

In support of National Financial Literacy Month, and with the rapidly growing need for financial literacy in California, the California State Lottery and the University of Phoenix will sponsor local teens, ages 13-17 to participate in one of the five  Be Money Smart Teens Workshop(s) offered by the YoungBiz Foundation California.  Program dates run from March 27 through May 1.

In these one-day workshops, participants will enjoy a fast-paced tour of the steps to financial fitness.  They will participate in hands-on activities, games, and contests, with prizes, that demonstrate the importance of wise financial planning.  Students will learn how to be wiser consumers, gaining insight to banking, budgeting, saving, and credit card use.  Lunch and snacks will be provided.

Successful teen businessman, Jeff Totten, owner of Totten Photography and Michael Lee from Golden 1 Credity Union will be two of the many featured guest speakers, attending to share and inspire teens to recognize their own entrepreneurial potential for success even while they are young!

All workshops will take place at a local University of Phoenix campus location.  Workshop sizes are limited to 35 people per workshop date, so register today for one of the following dates:

This is a sponsored event, but registration is limited to  175 participants.  All participants must pre-regiser.


Education is the only long-term solution for preventing financial crisis.  Education increases the ability to achieve economic stability.  This event, in support of National Financial Literacy Month, provides local teens with an opportunity to participate in a practical, interactive, real-world financial literacy education experience.  The event enables a better understanding of the long-term effects of financial decisions.  The YoungBiz Foundation California a a local non-profit training company specializing in youth financial, business, and career education programs.  Our goal is to inspire, train and educate young people about managing money.  Our mission is to equip and empower youth by giving them the opportunity to participate in educational programs that teach financial, business and entrepreneurship skills.
